Real estate private equity executives Matthias Cordier and Derek Jacobson have founded KADENS Capital (KADENS) with offices in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) and New York (United States). The firm focuses on growth-oriented real estate assets across multiple asset classes in major European markets. KADENS aims to leverage additional value through acquiring interests in operating partners, platforms, GPs and asset managers while providing them access to a network of global capital sources, leasing and tenant relationships as well as technology and services. KADENS aims to become one of the leading real estate private equity firms with a true pan-European outreach.
The founding partners of KADENS combine more than 30 years of experience in the industry and have jointly invested more than $5.0 billion in international real estate private equity over the last twelve years. Derek was former Co-Chief Investment Officer as well as member of the management board and investment committees at Madison International Reality. He had oversight over all European transactions as well as asset management and institutional clients in Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Asia. Among other roles, Matthias served as Managing Director at Madison International Reality where he was responsible for investment sourcing, structuring and execution across DACH, Northern Europe and CEE including the coordination of JV partners, investors and advisors. Maximilian Marquardt joined Derek and Matthias as founding members and works as Principal for KADENS. Maximilian has extensive real estate investment and asset management experience, in Europe and the United States. He has previously worked at Peakside Capital, Frankfurt and Paramount Group, New York. The company’s team is completed by Constantin Stanciu (Vice President) and Mohamed Lalioui (Senior Analyst). The headquarters of KADENS are located in Frankfurt and New York to effectuate its pan-European strategy benefiting from and identify emerging trends and opportunities.
KADENS uses a multi-pronged investment approach which encompasses comprehensive research to identify emerging real estate trends, a rigorous focus on property, market and tenant fundamentals, and value-add enhancement measures in cooperation with experienced operating platforms. KADENS’ fields of expertise include the sourcing and structuring of complex capital structures as well as execution on the asset level and building platform value. Investments are usually underwritten medium- to long-term and will be structured as on-balance-sheet investments or programmatic joint ventures during the starting period. KADENS will also consider the use of investment vehicles in the future.
